HISTORY OF THE
PIONEERS AND LEGENDS MARTIAL ARTS SOCIETY HALL OF FAME

PLIMSHOF is for KARATE-JU-JITSU-TAEKWONDO-AIKIDO-AIKI-JUTSU-SAVATE-KUNG FU-JUDO-KENPO JUTSU- AND ALL OF THE OTHER MARTIAL ARTS IN THE WORLD TODAY.

Martial art halls of fame have been around for approximately 25 years. There are too many to mention and that is really not important. However, what is very IMPORTANT IS THIS.  A Hall of Fame should be the ULTIMATE AWARD EARNED for sharing a lifetime of knowledge with those interested in learning. It takes years of dedication, a very strong discipline, integrity and honor.

Earning a black belt and having a collection of trophies to display will not get you into this HOF. Just winning a GRANDCHAMPIONSHIP will not get you into this HOF. Founding his or her own system will not get you into this HOF, and remember, NO ONE CAN BE A LEGITIMATE 10TH DAN AT LESS THAN 50 YEARS OF AGE. In his prime, BRUCE LEE WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT INTO THIS HOF! This is for those who have given the biggest part of their lives to the arts.

The PLIMSHOF was the brainchild of three men who all have been inducted into more halls of fame than they care to mention. These men are Harold (Hal) Brosious, Larry D. Hilton, and Dave Shelton. Together these men have over 100 years of experience in the martial arts. All of these men are recognized WORLDWIDE AS GRANDMASTERS OF THEIR PARTICULAR STYLE OF MARTIAL ARTS.

These three men who are the Founding Fathers of PLIMSHOF decided that there was a need for a one and only true Hall of Fame. In a meeting at O'Sensei Hal Brosious' home in Texas in May 2002, Professor Larry Hilton, and Soke Dave Shelton put their heads together and PLIMSHOF was born.

The decision was as follows --
to be inducted into this Hall of Fame, a martial artist would have to meet some very stringent standards:

  • They must be at least 50 years of age.
  • They must have a minimum of 35 years in the martial arts.
  • They must have earned a legitimate rank of at least 7th degree Black Belt, and yet this alone does not insure induction
  • All of the Founding Fathers must agree that the nominee for induction is without doubt  the highest caliber of martial artist. If one vote is against induction, it will stand, and the nominee will not make it into PLIMSHOF.

It is the wish of the founding fathers, that all inductees into PLIMSHOF will truly know they are special and their names and accomplishments will be remembered, forever!
